Hello, Friends!

Here I am with another round of chat questions from Everyday Ruralty. Enjoy.

What is your favorite room of your house or apartment?

I’ve got to say the master bedroom. Until we painted it, it was probably my least favorite room. It used to be “apartment cream” whereas the rest of the rooms were beautifully colored. Now it’s a gorgeous shade similar to red wine. I just love going in to bed each night.

Second place would have to be my craft room. That’s where I do all my sewing and most of the homeschool prep.

What’s your favorite topping for pancakes or waffles?

Butter and REAL maple syrup. Not Mrs. Butterworth’s or Eggo. The real stuff. Which I’d never had until six months ago. But now I’ll never go back.

Second place would be fresh strawberries, sliced and mixed with just a little sugar to draw out their juices.

Do you like dried fruit?

I like craisins (sweetened dried cranberries). Stupid name, delicious fruit.

As soon as we have spring weather, I’m going to . . .

. . . make a point to go for a walk every day. Hopefully I can actually lose some weight this summer. I’ve failed miserably every time I’ve tried, but here’s hoping.

Tell me a memory from your childhood.

I’m trying to think of one that doesn’t humiliate my brother . . . Ha!

Okay, here’s one. When I was in third grade, my teacher had a “reading loft.” It was like one of those things you get for your cat to climb on, but big enough for people – well, kids. Each week, a set of five kids got to go in the underside of the loft, and another set got to go in the top of the loft, for SSR (sustained silent reading – do they still do that in public school?). Whichever group was in the bottom this week was in the top next week, and if it was your turn in the top this week, you’d be at your desk for a few weeks after that. The loft was loaded up with pillows and such, and was the BEST place to read!

The reading loft looked very similar to this one, except it was carpeted in white on the upper level.

Now it’s your turn. Do me a favor and answer one (or more) of these questions in the comments.

Blessings,

Wendy

Wednesday Chat #1

Hey everyone! Happy mid-week.

I was just introduced to a fun little thing that happens over on Everyday Ruralty on Tuesdays, so I wanted to join in. She offers five random questions to answer, and then link up over on her blog. It seems like a fun way for you guys to get to know me just a little bit better :).

1. What are your favorite condiments?

Without a doubt, mild salsa. It’s so versatile! You can eat on chips, tacos, burritos … the list goes on and on. It’s also great as a sauce element. For burgers, I’m all about the mayo and relish. For hot dogs, it’s ketchup and relish for me.

2. What are you reading?

The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. It’s book 2 in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. My husband loves these books and wanted me to read them, but even though I like to read, these are taking me forever to get through. I can’t really pinpoint why. I’ve been working on the series for 9 months now, though, and am just over halfway through.

For the read-aloud with my boys, we’re reading Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne, inspired by the Poppins Book Nook (more on that in a couple of weeks).

3. What was the last dessert you had?

Root beer float flavored frozen yogurt from one of those “You Top It” places. I topped mine with granola and graham cracker crumbs.

4. Wendell would like to know if you would build him a snowman. (If you don’t have snow, just pretend. He’s not detail oriented.)

Sorry, Wendell. No snow here in Oregon. You’re about a month late. (And I’m not very imaginative, so “just pretend” isn’t too good from me…)

5. Tell me something fun or interesting.

We recently painted some of the rooms in our house. My sewing room had been an awful bubble gum pink ever since we moved in (a 9yo girl occupied it before we moved in). To make matters worse, it was gloss, so the pink reflected in the light. Now it’s a lovely stone brown on three walls and heather purple on the fourth, all flat. I love it! In the master bedroom, we’ve painted it a gorgeous red wine color. Now I’m using the sewing room to make a bed-size quilt to compliment the new color in the master bedroom better than what we have. As soon as it’s done, there’ll be a picture here on the blog :).

Now it’s your turn. Would you do me the honor of answering one (or more) of these questions in the comments section? I’d love to hear from you!

Blessings,

Wendy
