July Blogging Challenge, Day 4: Celebrate

Posted by Wendy on July 4, 2015 Leave a Comment

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans! Here’s a taste of what we did to celebrate today:

We fed ducks – again (different ducks this time, though). We really like doing that 🙂

We went to Toys R Us, but didn’t buy anything. It was fun to look around, though. At the end, Small Fry got to ride in the “Apple Car” with Lowly Worm (from the works of Richard Scarry). We have a DVD of Busytown stories that he likes to watch sometimes, so this was a treat for him.

We had flanken steak short ribs for dinner, alongside a salad and some glazed carrots. No picture, but it was delicious!

And finally, we had some friends over and lit off fireworks outside our home. It was the first time we’ve really done a “fireworks show” at home (we’ve gone several big ones in the past), and it was really fun. Well, except for the “Screaming Rose” fireworks. Those were mostly obligatory to light up since they came in the pack. (The giant package of fireworks was a gift for the boys from Grandpa – my dad.)

I hope you all had just as wonderful a day as we did!

July Blogging Challenge, Day 3: View

Posted by Wendy on July 3, 2015 3 Comments

I’m a little late on the challenge today for a couple of reasons. First of all, today starts birthday season in our home (today is mine, Sunday is hubby’s, and a week from Sunday is Small Fry’s). Due to that, it was kind of crazy here today. In a good way, of course.

Secondly, I wasn’t entirely sure what to do for today’s prompt. I mean, “view” is straightforward enough, but I wasn’t sure my own backyard was that interesting, and it didn’t seem appropriate to snap a photograph out the front window – I doubt my neighbors would appreciate having the fronts of their homes posted on the internet.

But then we went out this afternoon, and I was able to snap a couple of pictures from our outing that were just perfect for this. So, here is one of my favorite views of the day: Will and the kids feeding ducks at the lake. (Munchkin was there too, he just didn’t make it into the shot since it was so narrow.)

And for good measure, here’s one of just the ducks.
