Wednesday Chat #12

chatsonthefarmhouseporchIt looks like it’s been quite a while since Patrice at Everyday Ruralty has posted new questions, but it’s been even longer since I’ve answered any, so I’m going to do an old set this week.

Please tell me something that you have done recently that was really fun.

A couple of weeks ago, we went swimming. We used to go every single week before Small Fry was born, but then with a newborn it was much harder to go. And then we got used to not going rather than going, and pretty soon it had been well over a year since we’d been. The kids were the ones who really, really wanted to go, so Seahawk paid for the trip with his allowance. (It’s only $6 for the whole family on Tuesday evenings.) I was worried that Small Fry would be afraid of the pool since it had been so long since we’d gone, but he loved it. We’re planning to go again next Tuesday.

Do you worry about any issues regarding food/food quality/food production?

Yes. Unfortunately, unless you own a farm (or know someone who does), I don’t think there’s anything you can do about it. So while I am angered at the fact that the factory farms mess with our food supply, I just have to let it go.

Have you painted any of your walls with any color other than white, beige, or tan?

The house we’re currently renting is the only house in which we’ve had colored walls, and I love it. Our living room is light green with a blue accent wall. The dining room is the same green. The kitchen is just a “normal” color, as are two of the bathrooms. The boys’ room is blue, and the playroom is orange. The master bedroom is a deep red. The master bath is blue. Will’s office is charcoal gray with white trim. My sewing room is stone brown with a lavender accent wall.

We painted Will’s office, the master bedroom, and my sewing room. The rest were already nicely colored when we moved in.

What is your favorite way to have a hamburger?

Without cheese. I really don’t like cheeseburgers at all. I can never taste anything but the cheese when I have one, and if I’m going to be eating a burger – consuming all that fat and those calories – I want to taste the meat. As for toppings, I like a whole wheat bun with mayo, relish, lettuce, and tomato. Pickles optional. No onions.

The exception to the “no cheese” rule is a mushroom Swiss burger. Those are yummy. But only if you can get them with fresh, grilled mushrooms. The last one I had (in a restaurant) was made with canned mushrooms, and it kind of made me mad, lol. Canned mushrooms are too slimy for burgers.

Please finish this sentence: If I could, I’d like to play _____. This can be a musical instrument, a part in a play . . . use your imagination 🙂

This is tough. I don’t really have any firm desires to play an instrument (I do play the flute, however – not very well anymore, but I do play). I suppose: If I could, I’d like to play tennis better than I currently can.

Have a great rest of the week!

Blessings,

Wendy
