What We’re Reading in March

I almost forgot to post about what we’re reading this month. It’s not too late in the month, so we’re still good, though :). Here’s our list.

Read-aloud: Everyone

We’re still working through Leonardo da Vinci Gets a Do-Over. It got put where it doesn’t belong at one point, and I forgot about it for a few days. We’re about halfway through, so hopefully we’ll finish before the month is out. I haven’t decided yet what we’ll read when we finish it.

Me

I’m reading a couple of books this month, reviews of which will be here on the blog in the next couple of weeks (including one that includes my first giveaway!). The first one you’ll see is Tracking Justice by Shirlee McCoy. It’s part of the Texas K9 series, which is described as “love inspired suspense.”

The second one is Still Life by Christa Parrish. I’ve been working on this one for a while, but took a break to read a library book. (Since there’s a time limit on library books, I gave that one priority. It was called Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade, in case you’re curious. I won’t be doing a review of it here.)

Seahawk (5th grade)

February got away from us without me noticing that Seahawk wasn’t reading as much as he was supposed to. This means that he’s still reading Catching Fire. Based on how far he is into it, he read an average of one chapter every three days instead of one chapter a day like he’s supposed to. I blame myself as much as I blame him; I should have kept better tabs on how much he was reading.

Munchkin (3rd grade)

In a not-at-all-surprising scenario, Munchkin read a bunch of books in February. He read the February book club book, Aliens Ate My Homework, and the March book club book, Amulet. In addition to those, he also read The Hunger Games in its entirety. So in March, he’s reading Catching Fire, too. He didn’t want to wait for his brother to finish, so we picked up an additional copy of it from the library. His goal is to pass his brother. I’ve already told him he’s not allowed to gloat if that happens.

Small Fry (2 1/2)

He’s really into Babar right now, which is fine with me. I just adore Babar. These French books are a lot longer than a traditional American picture book, so we often end up reading them in multiple sittings, but that’s okay. It’s a lot to take in for a toddler. He also really likes the Babar videos, which I let him watch occasionally on YouTube.

The other book he’s really into right now is The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss. We picked this book up at secondhand a few years ago (when the older boys were little) and they loved it, so it’s nice to see it getting a second generation of love. I practically have it memorized! 😉

That’s it for us; what are you reading this month?

Blessings,

The cool thing about the da Vinci book is that the publisher’s website (sciencenaturally.com) has a free unit study guide. It’s a pretty fun book :). I look forward to reading your K9 review. It’ll be interesting to see how opinions differ (or not).
